Q1: Why are documents printed from HawkEye Print so much sharper than official printer apps or system print services?
Standard mobile print drivers convert pages into low-resolution (150–300 DPI) color/grayscale images, causing the printer to apply halftone dot dithering that makes text edges look blurry, hollow, or jagged. HawkEye Print renders vectors directly at native 600 / 1200 DPI and outputs 1-Bit pure black raster streams (RAW Port 9100 / IPP Port 631), matching desktop USB print quality.
Q2: My printer only has local Wi-Fi or Ethernet (no cloud print feature). How can it print remotely?
As long as your printer is connected to your home or office network, HawkEye Print upgrades it to support remote HD printing via a local relay gateway. You don't even need dedicated hardware—when you're away, just ask a parent, senior, or family member at home to open the HawkEye Print app on their phone for 1 minute (Home Gateway tab), or run our free gateway plugin on a home PC, NAS, or OpenWrt router.
Q3: Which printer brands and models are supported?
HawkEye Print supports all Brother laser and inkjet network printers (e.g., HL-L2350DW, DCP-L2550DW, MFC-L2710DW, DCP-B7520DW, DCP-T720DW, DCP-T420W), as well as HP, Canon, Epson, Ricoh, Pantum, Kyocera, and Xerox printers that support standard TCP Port 9100 (RAW/JetDirect), Port 631 (IPP), Port 515 (LPD), or Android System Print Service.
Q4: Are my documents private and secure?
Yes! All PDF, Office, and image rendering happens 100% locally on your Android device. In LAN mode, print data goes directly from your phone to your printer over local Wi-Fi. In Remote Print mode, encrypted raster chunks are transiently relayed directly to your own home gateway without ever being stored in the cloud.
